Do you remember as a kid noticing how a stick looked distorted when you put it in a river? It would look like it was broken or bent. Yet when you pull it out again, the stick is the same. It’s straight. And you’d be fascinated that every time you put the stick in the water, it would appear broken again. And all that changed was that we placed the stick in the water. Because of the water, we got a different view. The refracted light in the water made the stick appear bent. You see life plays tricks on us like this all the time. And that’s how the lessons from a broken stick come into play.

Our view of things becomes the beliefs that we hold. Our interpretations of what we believe to be true are our perceptions. It’s what we understand to be true. It’s our view of the world. However, we’ve got to question where our beliefs came from, and whether the beliefs that we hold are serving us well or not. Well on this episode of The Genius Code™ podcast, I share with you why this is happening and especially the pattern you want to observe so as to be able to dissolve what is holding you back.

In this episode, Paul Davis delves into how our perceptions can mislead us, much like the stick appearing bent in water. Additionally, he emphasizes that our beliefs, shaped by past experiences and societal influences, can distort our understanding of reality. For instance, a person might believe they’re not good at public speaking because of a single past failure. This belief, though based on one event, can hinder future opportunities.

Moreover, Paul encourages listeners to question the origins of their beliefs. Are they based on facts or mere perceptions? By identifying and challenging these distorted beliefs, we can reshape our mindset. This process involves observing recurring negative thought patterns and actively working to change them. For example, if someone believes they’re unworthy of success, they might sabotage their efforts. Recognizing this pattern is the first step toward change.
