I recently attended an event with an inspiring presenter who emphasized habits that make or break us. She explained how small changes in our lives can lead to significant impacts over time. For example, she described an airplane altering its course by just 5 degrees. At first, the difference is barely noticeable—even after 10 or 100 kilometers. But after traveling 1,000 kilometers, you end up in a completely different destination.
I thought it was a beautiful metaphor for a very real fact of life.
It made me realise that in this same way, even the smallest of habits I’ve built have made a great difference for me. A few examples:
I started asking my clients, “What’s the one thing that could be done better?” This simple question has helped me continually improve my offering.
I stopped working outside of regular hours and on weekends. This has improved my quality of life and pushed me to be more productive during work hours.
When I see someone having a bad day, I ask, “Is everything okay?” This simple question can transform negativity into something positive. Just listening can make a powerful difference.
You see, for me, it truly is the small things that make a BIG difference.
What habit has made a huge difference for you?
