In my work, I see a lot of business owners and executives so overwhelmed that they put aside work for the weekend. I’ve been there and I completely understand the urge/pressure to do more.
I think it is fair to say that this doesn’t make up for the best work-life balance. Here’s a few quick tips to get you out of this cycle:
-
Keep a time log of your activities for a week
See how much time you spend on what. Most of my clients discover that they spend loads of time on activities that don’t actually create value but are dealing with distractions. You can then work on eliminating those distractions.
-
Select your Top 3 priorities
Don’t start with the least demanding task, start with your top 3 highest priorities. When you get your top 3 done each day, it will completely change your mindset by having a sense of achievement.
-
Delegate
I know it’s a cliché but it’s a cliché for a reason. Many genuinely believe that they are the best person to do a task, but this is often not the case. Delegate ALL you can, your time can be put to a better use. You’ll find a lot more in my book “More Clients, More Fees, More Time” but these are a good starting point.
